Members of the Friends Group are welcome to attend Board meetings. They are held the first Wednesday of the month in the Okie Room at the Refuge's headquarters building on Wildfowl Lane in Stevensville.

The Friends of the Lee Metcalf NWR were honored to have Bob Whaley attend the board meeting on March 3, 2010. Bob's great-grandfather was Peter Whaley, who homesteaded the white frame house (below), located on Wildfowl Lane not far from the turnoff to the Refuge Visitor Center, in 1877.
